Management Accounting for Marketplaces
The system calculates profit and unit economics for each shipment across four marketplaces. It reconciles marketplace data with the accounting system and prices items based on cost.
The task
Calculate the economics of trading on four marketplaces at the level of an individual shipment. Connect the platforms’ actual deductions, cost of goods and pricing rules.
Shipment-level economics
The system retrieves data through the platforms’ APIs and reconciles it with the accounting system. Commissions, logistics, deductions and returns are all included in the calculations.
Shipment-level detail makes it possible to analyze profit and unit economics under the conditions of each specific sale.
Pricing
We developed a pricing engine that works up from cost, accounting for taxes, deductions and the target margin. Returns are handled separately, including through forecasting.
Management accounting and price calculation share one economic model, linking sales results to subsequent pricing decisions.
